- From The Powers Family, published 1883:
"He probably lived in Lexington, as his name appears on the rolls of that town as a soldier in the old French War. Lydia, his wife, was a sister of Nathaniel Russell, Esq., and probably daughter of Deacon David Russell of 'Nashoba Farms'. Gideon Powers is the first name on the first church records, without date, the previous records supposed to be lost; it is followed among others by the name of Elizabeth Powers, wife of Jonathan; Josiah Powers and his wife; Lydia Powers; Elizabeth Powers; Mary Powers; Joanna Powers; Robert Powers and his wife; and Rachel Powers; all of the above without date, but probably previous to 1746. Sept. 30, 1752, Ephraim and his wife owned the covenant; May 1753, Abijah Powers and his wife Mary owned the covenant; June, 1767, Robert Powers and his wife owned the covenant."
